Cynthia Hoven

“We are not alone in this universe.
We are embraced by the abundant love of the Creator.”

Cynthia Hoven is well-loved for her joyful, playful and gentle teaching style. She is committed to creating a learning situation in which students can experience inner awareness and balance. Before she began her Eurythmy studies, Cynthia studied Math and Physics. In a quest for balance, she began a two-year world tour (equipped with only a backpack and a one-way ticket to Europe), to seek spiritual teachers. The insights she gained into all the different ways there are of living on the earth have inspired her journey ever since.

She completed her four-year Eurythmy training in California, and then moved to Dornach, Switzerland, where she performed Eurythmy with the Goetheanum Stage Group. In Stuttgart, Germany, she completed a two-year training in Therapeutic Eurythmy, and went on to work in hospitals and clinics in Europe. She returned to California in 1983, and helped to co-found the Raphael Medical Clinic for anthroposophical medicine in Fair Oaks, California. In 1990 she joined the faculty of Rudolf Steiner College, where she teaches Eurythmy, psychology and philosophy classes.

From 1996-2000 she co-directed a Eurythmy training in northern California. She is currently directing a new Eurythmy studies program at Rudolf Steiner College, and offers pubic classes whenever possible. With her new project “Dance of the Living Word,” Cynthia is taking Eurythmy into wider, more public venues.

Cynthia lives with her husband and daughter in Fair Oaks. Her family continues to enjoy world travels whenever possible.
